33 weeks & an update

Baby's now the size of a honeydew!
Things are heating up inside as well: Baby may grow up to a full inch this week alone, and his brain is developing like crazy. Pretty soon, he'll be able to coordinate breathing with sucking and swallowing. Also, his bones are hardening, and he's started to keep his eyes open when he's awake.

So sorry I have been slacking on here. Things are a little busy getting ready for baby at home and at work as you can imagine. The last few weeks has been a rollercoaster to say the least! We got enough gift cards to purchase this beauty.... (from here)
Product Image DaVinci Futura Cradle in Espresso
It took about 30 minutes to put it together and is beautiful. It is MUCH bigger than I expected. I thought it would be more of an "infant" size. I love it though! I also ordered something else that I can't wait to receive. I have been looking and looking for a diaper bag that I love and that is affordable. I stumbled upon this bag on etsy and fell in love immediately. This shop has a lot more very very cute bags. I will let you know what I think of my bag and the quality when it gets here. I can't wait to carry this around with my little bundle. I especially love it because I can use it for a diaper bag and purse and it not look like a diaper bag in the process when I'm trying to look like a stylish mom ;)
3rd YEARS ANNIVERSARY SALE - Juliet tote - sahara brown with genuien leather strap
I am waiting on my darling husband to get a chance to finish up the nursery for me. He has some projects that I cannot finish myself. Once those are done I can't wait to show you the room we have been getting ready for Easton!

it's official...

After SO much consideration and contemplation we have finally decided to make our first choice on our name list official. When Travis and I first heard this name we loved it but jumping off the cliff and making it official was so much harder than I thought. We chose this name because it is unique but not too weird and because there was nothing else that we both agreed on as much as this name. So I'm sure you are biting your nails at this point... :) his name will be easton samuel harville. easton is the name we loved, samuel is in memory of Travis's best friend and cousin that is no longer with us, and harville comes with the territory :) We can't wait to meet him!

24 weeks

At my ultrasound appointment the tech told me that my baby boy was measuring two weeks ahead but that was totally normal. Normal??! Am I going to have a giant baby? So last week when I got to see my doctor I asked her what that meant. She said he was not measuring two weeks ahead (what a relief!). But as she looked at my chart she said "oh" and proceeded to tell me that his abdomen is measuring two weeks ahead. :) Im assuming that means he already has a belly. At least it's cuter to imagine him that way.

Baby's now the size of a papaya!
Baby's skin is becoming more opaque as the fat starts to pack on. And, thanks to the formation of small capillaries, her newly thick skin is taking on a fresh pink glow.

21 weeks

Baby's now the size of a banana!
Baby's digestive system is busy creating meconium (a tarry black substance made of swallowed amniotic fluid, digestive secretion, and dead cells), which will fill the first diaper after birth. And, if baby is a girl, her womb is now stocked up with her lifetime supply of six million eggs (the number will drop to around one million by birth).

My pregnancy rant...

This has been bugging me for weeks now and I can't hold it in any longer. Why in the world do people think they can say whatever the heck they want about your body when you are pregnant? Would you EVER walk up to anyone and say "you are getting huge" or "wow, you are really putting on the weight" or "hey chubby" or "you actually look slender in that black outfit" or "look at your pooch" (that word makes me cringe! it's a baby, or a belly, or a bump people!) or say ANYTHING of the sorts unless you are just being hateful?! WHY in the world is it all of a sudden ok to say something to a woman who's body is changing faster than she can keep up. Yes, it is all for the baby, and whatever has to happen to keep this baby healthy I am willing to endure, as I think most women are, but it doesn't change anything about our insecurities, our fears, and us trying to cope with our ever-changing, growing, expanding, bodies. If you can't say something extra sweet to a pregnant girl because you feel like you are lying then keep your mouth shut! I am SO afraid that I am going to let it all out on some semi-innocent person who makes the next unknowingly rude comment. Yesterday my neighbor lady that I get the mail for made the comment about me "really putting on a lot of weight" I am more worried right now about not gaining enough than gaining too much but my body is still changing like crazy! So first of all it makes me so mad because I honestly know on one hand it's not even true. On the other hand, what if I had already gained 30 pounds by now? Why would you say that to someone either way? I don't care how big I get, I NEVER want to hear any negative body perspective opinions from anyone unless I ask. If I am having a day where I do feel like I am getting "huge" and not feeling the pregnancy glow those comments hurt even worse! And HELLO!!! I'm only gonna get bigger, then what? I will probably quit coming out of the house and just sit on the couch and eat twinkies all day! (Not really, I hate twinkies) But come on! Why would you want to insult someone and bring them down so much during such a happy time in their lives? I just don't understand why all of a sudden, being pregnant, makes people think that they can say whatever they want about your body. UUUGGGHHH! Has anyone else experienced this?

20 weeks and it's a BOY!

Baby's now the size of a cantaloupe!
Baby gulps down several ounces of amniotic fluid every day, both for nutrition and to practice swallowing and digesting. And, these days, those taste buds actually work! Studies show that after birth, babies respond best to tastes they've already had via amniotic fluid. Meaning, think about what you'd like your future child to eat as you prepare your own lunch.

Friday, April 1st was our appointment to find out if we were having a boy or girl. I am all about surprises but wanted to know now what we were going to have. I am all about planning too! I can't wait to start planning the nursery. I have already spent hours I am sure, staring at the sweet ultrasound pictures we got trying to figure out what he is going to look like. We did not tell any of our family when we would find out about the baby, we just told them it would be sometime in April. We knew they would never guess April 1st and we would totally be able to surprise each of them. After we left the doctors office we stopped at the grocery to grab some blue balloons and some candy bars (candy bars played the important role of holding the balloons down and of just being delicious!) We then were able to take the day surprising each of our parent's, my grandparents, and even Travis's sisters. It was so much fun when we walked in each time with a blue balloon. We also were able to enjoy the surprise of each one of them in person (except for my Dad, we had to do it over the phone!) It was such a wonderful day! We ended the night by having a few of our friends over to find out the news. After most had arrived we tied a blue ribbon on Paisley and let her run out with it on. Everyone was very excited for us! We had dinner and hung out with great friends the rest of the evening. Travis was even able to celebrate with the guys and some cigars out in the backyard around the fire pit. It was really the most wonderful day!

Please excuse the horrible quality of the photo. I took a picture of it with my phone. Isn't he cute though?!!
